Make your phone calls sound better by using this secret iPhone feature.
Here is how to turn on Voice Isolation on your iPhone, which will significantly improve the sound quality of your phone conversations.
You might be wondering why you should enable Voice Isolation on your iPhone. In case you were unaware, Voice Isolation is a feature developed by Apple that helps reduce background noise. After all, your iPhone is one of the best phones available, which means that it comes equipped with a decent microphone. And if you are using AirPods or another set of the best wireless headphones, the mics built into those headphones will have had the same amount of money invested in their development. Isn’t that enough to guarantee a high quality of sound when making calls?
Well, no. If you put some thought into it, you’ll realize that a microphone’s sensitivity directly correlates to the amount of sound it is able to pick up, which includes both foreground and background noise. In this case, having a better mic might actually make your call quality worse, which is somewhat counterintuitive. Even though the quality of the audio signal might be better, there’s still a chance that your voice won’t come through or that it will be drowned out by other noises. Because of this, having targeted noise reduction software is essential, and this is also the reason why Apple’s Voice Isolation feature will make your calls more understandable.
Voice Isolation is a handy little feature that was introduced with iOS 15 and can be used to remove unwanted noise frequencies from a call when it is turned on. This helps to isolate the sound of your voice and improves the overall audio quality of the conversation you are having. Note that the Voice Isolation feature is currently only available for use with video and audio calls made via FaceTime, but we hope that Apple will soon make it available for use with regular phone calls as well.
