The company has established a state-of-the-art Research & Development (R&D) elevator test facility in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai. KONE Elevators India – State-of-the-art R&D Facility
The new R&D facility is equipped with multiple shafts that can be reconfigured for testing new high and mid-rise solutions. It also houses laboratories for testing elevator and escalator components. The facility is managed by the KONE Technology Centre, responsible for R&D.
One of the standout features of this facility is the inclusion of the KONE DX, the world’s first digitally connected elevator. This elevator offers guests a panoramic view at the top, symbolizing KONE’s commitment to enhancing user experience through digital connectivity.
Expanding Portfolio: Escalator Production
After 39 years of successful elevator manufacturing, KONE is now venturing into escalator production. The first escalator pilot batch produced at this advanced facility underwent rigorous testing in new state-of-the-art labs. This ensures adherence to the highest industry standards and reinforces KONE’s commitment to quality, durability, and safety.
