MediaTek, a Taiwanese chipmaker, has announced its new flagship CPU. The Dimensity 9000 SoC will compete with Qualcomm’s forthcoming Snapdragon 898, also known as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The new SoC, according to MediaTek, contains a slew of global firsts. To begin with, it is the world’s first smartphone processor to use a 4nm technology. The Bluetooth 5.3 standard is supported by the chip. It’s also the first 3CC Carrier Aggregation 5G network in the world to offer a maximum download speed of 7Gbps on a sub-6GHz 5G network (300MHz). The 5G modem is 3GPP Release-16 compliant, although it does not support mmWave. Let’s look at the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 features that were announced at the MediaTek Conference.
MediaTek Dimensity 9000 5G: 4nm SoC with Slew of Exciting Features
The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is built on the latest ARM v9 architecture with a 1+3+4 cluster, which was introduced during the company’s annual event. It’s the first chip made with a 4nm technique in the world. The processor contains three Cortex-A710 performance cores with a clock speed of 2.85GHz and a prime X2 core clocked at 3.05GHz. At 1.8GHz, there are four efficiency cores. A 10-core Mali-710 GPU is in charge of graphics performance. A fifth-generation APU with six cores for AI processing is also included in the SoC, which is said to give 4x higher performance and efficiency than the previous generation chip. In addition, the device supports LPDDR5x RAM at speeds of 7500Mbps.
Smartphones featuring the MediaTek flagship chip can support Full HD+ resolution screens with a refresh rate of up to 180Hz. It also enables photos captured with a 320MP sensor and can simultaneously record 4K HDR video from three camera sensors. Video recording at 8K30fps and 4K120fps is also supported by the ISP.
Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 6E 22, and other connectivity updates are available. Devices based on the new Dimensity flagship will be available in Q1 2022, according to MediaTek. Xiaomi, Redmi, and Realme are likely to be among the first to release a smartphone using the Dimensity 9000 SoC.
