Apex Legends Mobile was released in May, and after about 9 months, Respawn and EA announced that the game is being discontinued.
Respawn stated that it has begun to fall short of that bar in terms of quality, quantity, and cadence, which is why it is shutting down the game after months of development.
Starting today, it will disable all real money in-app purchases in the game and remove it from Google Play and the Apple App Store. It will cease operations in all regions on May 1, 2023, and the game will no longer be playable. During this three-month period, players can use their existing Syndicate Gold to play the full game.
According to the terms of the EA User Agreement, the company will not provide refunds for real-money purchases. Apex Legends will remain available on PC and consoles.
Respawn had this to say about it:
We have made the painful decision to sunset Apex Legends Mobile.
This decision does not come with ease. Factors beyond our control have prevented us from maintaining the high-quality experience and content that our players deserve.
As a result, the game will sunset on May 1, 2023 at 4pm PDT after which it will no longer be playable.
Our gratitude to our players and teams for joining us on Apex Legends Mobile, even if for a short while, is unending. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
