Apple, the American electronics titan, has lately announced that it has begun manufacturing the iPhone 14 in India. According to a recent report, Apple is planning to start producing AirPods and Beats headphones in India. When compared to the iPhone, Apple’s AirPods are the company’s second best-selling product. The iPhone 14 “made in India” will also soon be available in European markets.
Apple AirPods and Beats Headphones Manufacturing in India
On Wednesday, Nikkei Asia reported that Apple had requested that its suppliers begin manufacturing AirPods and Beats headphones in India. Foxconn, the company that assembles iPhones, reportedly aims to manufacture Beats headphones and AirPods in the country, as reported by IANS.
China and Vietnam are both making AirPods right now, and Vietnam also makes the vast majority of Beats headphones. Apple has started making the new iPhone 14 in India, which is a first for the tech giant. Making new iPhones in India takes less time than in China, which is Apple’s main manufacturing hub around the world.
Apple has already spent billions of dollars on local manufacturing and assembly, and the iPhone 14 will be released in the fourth quarter of this year. If things keep going the way they are, Apple may start making the iPhone 15 in India as well as China next year.
Nikkei Asia Report states that,
Bringing AirPods and Beats production to India would enlarge Apple’s production footprint in the country, following a recent announcement that the latest iPhone is already being made there.
While manufacturing in India was initially aimed at serving the massive local market, Apple is now developing the country as a strategic production base, with exports intended for markets such as Europe, sources briefed on the matter said.
