According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in September of last year, Apple will eventually rename its top-tier phone from “Pro Max” to “Ultra” because it is much easier to say and more closely matches Apple’s naming strategy of Pro, Max, and Ultra tiers on the Mac processors, as well as the Apple Watch Ultra.
In the most recent issue of the Power On newsletter, he claims that rather than calling the Pro Max “the Ultra,” Apple could introduce an even more expensive iPhone to sit above both Pro models. The iPhone 16 Ultra may be the name of this device, which could be released alongside the new iPhone in 2024.
According to the rumour, since this would probably cost more than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple may add more camera upgrades, a quicker chip, and possibly a larger display.
It might get a periscope camera to improve the camera. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Ultra model of the iPhone 16 series may be the only one with a periscope camera because it is the most expensive model.
Next year, Apple may finally remove the charging port. We may hopefully anticipate speedier wireless charging. The iPhone 15, which will be available in the fall of 2023, one year before the EU deadline, is rumoured to have a USB-C connector.
