Apple has finally begun rolling out the next-generation iOS 16 software update to users globally, as announced last week. iOS 16 was announced at WWDC 2022. It has a new lock screen that you can change, a better Focus mode, new features for iMessage, and more.
Apple iOS 16 Update Available Models and Size
iOS 16 is now available for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS series, iPhone 11 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, and the new iPhone 14 series to download. It has a file size of 3.11GB. There are numerous new features that it introduces. Aside from personalised lock screens and an improved Focus mode, you’ll also get an improved Mail app, Passkeys in Safari, live text in videos, and additional improvements to the Camera and Photos apps, as well as new Health app updates. Later this year, iCloud Shared Photo Library and Matter support will be available. In addition, compatible vehicles for Apple’s new CarPlay will be announced later next year.
Clear Storage and Charge Your Battery
This may not affect you if you have a recent iPhone with more storage, but if you have a 64GB iPhone, make sure you have at least 9-10GB free space available. Apple recommends 8GB, but if the update becomes stuck, it may be cached and occupy storage while attempting to download it again. Make sure your iPhone battery is at least 60-70% charged before upgrading. Because of unstable Wi-Fi and slower download speeds, the procedure may take significantly longer and consume significantly more power at times. To be safe, make sure your iPhone is fully charged and ready to go.
