Artificial Intelligence (in short AI) is a computer program’s ability to learn and think. Everything that involves a program doing something that we would normally associate with human intelligence is considered artificial intelligence.  Artificial intelligence applications offer enormous benefits and have the potential to revolutionize any industry. So, let’s take a look at its advantages and some disadvantages which might give you an overall idea about AI.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Advantages:

Because people make mistakes from time to time, the term “human error” was coined. If properly programmed, computers, on the other hand, do not make these errors. Artificial intelligence uses a set of algorithms to make decisions based on previously collected data. As a result, errors are reduced, and the possibility of greater precision accuracy is increased.  For example, they have reduced the majority of human error in weather forecasting by using AI is one of the most significant advantages of this tech.  By developing an AI Robot that can do risky things for us, we can overcome many of humanity’s risky limitations. It can be used effectively in any type of natural or man-made disaster, whether it is going to Mars, defusing a bomb, exploring the deepest parts of the oceans, mining for coal and oil.

Without breaks, an average human will work for 4 to 6 hours per day. Humans are built in such a way that they can take time off to refresh themselves and prepare for a new day at work, and they even have weekly off days to keep their work and personal lives separate. But, unlike humans, we can use AI to make machines work 24 hours a day, seven days a week with no breaks, and they don’t get bored.  For example, educational institutions and helpline centres receive a large number of queries and issues that AI can effectively address.

We will be doing a lot of repetitive work in our day-to-day work, such as sending thank-you emails, double-checking documents for errors, and so on.  We can use artificial intelligence to productively automate these mundane tasks and even remove “boring” tasks from humans’ schedules, allowing them to be more creative.  For example, in banks, we frequently see numerous document verifications in order to obtain a loan, which is a time-consuming task for the bank’s owner.  The owner can use AI Cognitive Automation to speed up the process of document verification, which will benefit both the customers and the owner.

We can make machines make decisions and carry out actions faster than humans by combining AI with other technologies.  While a human will consider many factors, both emotionally and practically, when making a decision, an AI-powered machine will focus on what it has been programmed to do and will deliver results more quickly.  For instance, we have all played Chess games on Windows.  Because of the AI in the game, beating the CPU in hard mode is nearly impossible.  According to the algorithms used, it will take the best possible step in the shortest amount of time.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Disadvantages:

Artificial Intelligence

Because AI is evolving on a daily basis, hardware and software must be updated on a regular basis to keep up with the latest requirements.  Machines necessitate repair and maintenance, both of which incur significant costs. Because they are extremely complex machines, their creation necessitates exorbitant costs.

With its applications automating the majority of the work, AI is making humans lazy. Humans are prone to becoming addicted to these inventions, posing a threat to future generations.

As this technology replaces the majority of repetitious and other work with robots, human interference is becoming less prevalent, posing a serious concern in terms of employment norms. Every corporation is attempting to replace minimum-qualified personnel with AI robots that are more efficient at performing similar tasks.

Machines are undeniably more efficient when it comes to working, but they cannot replace the human connection that binds a team together. Machines are unable to form bonds with humans, which is an important characteristic in team management.

Machines can only perform the tasks for which they were designed or programmed anything else causes them to crash or produce irrelevant outputs, which can be a major distraction.

These are some of the artificial intelligence’s advantages and disadvantages. Every new technology or discovery will have both, but we as humans must be aware of this and use the positive parts of the idea to better the world. Artificial intelligence (AI) has a lot of promise. The challenge for humans is to maintain control over the “rising of the robots.” Some argue that this tech could destroy human civilization if it falls into the wrong hands. No AI programme developed at that scale, however, is capable of destroying or enslaving humanity.
