Google released the Android Go edition five years ago as a mobile platform for low-cost phones. Google has announced the Android 13 Go edition, following the release of Android 13 in August of this year. The operating system is said to be reliable, usable, and customizable.
Google Android 13 Go edition: Features
Direct software updates
Most entry-level phones cannot afford to lose storage capacity while updating software. It has Google Play System Updates for Go devices to ensure they receive crucial software updates outside of major Android releases. This streamlines critical updates without compromising device storage. The result is a phone that stays current without manufacturer updates or releases.
Discover feature
Android (Go version) features built-in intelligence. Discover allows you to swipe right from your home screen to see curated articles and other content in this edition.
Material You to Android Go
Everybody should be able to customise their phone. This update introduces Material You to Android Go, enabling you to customise your phone’s colour palette to match your wallpaper. Set your background to four colours. Dynamic colouring makes a gorgeous home screen and makes your phone seem distinctive.

More new features
This update adds some key Android 13 features, such as Notification Permissions, App Language Preferences, and more, as well as new features made just for Go users.
Availability
Google says that with this update, it wants to give Android Go device owners, who number in the millions today and in the future, more options. In 2023, new Android 13 (Go edition) devices will be released.
Charmaine D’Silva, Director of Product Management for Android, commented on the announcement, saying,
When we introduced Android (Go edition) five years ago, we tailored our core mobile platform to power affordable phones with limited memory and storage. This need is just as pertinent today, with nearly 180 million people coming online in the last twelve months alone.
As we announce the release of Android 13 (Go edition), we’re marking a milestone, too: there are now over 250 million monthly active devices powered by Android Go. To better serve this growing set of users, we focused on three critical qualities: reliability, usability and customization
