Google Meet now lets Live stream events via YouTube

Google is adding a new feature to its Meet app that will allow users to livestream meetings to YouTube.

The meeting’s activities panel can be accessed by an admin by choosing “Live Streaming” from the list of options, the company claims.

According to AndroidCentral, in order to start streaming the meeting they are holding, users can then choose their channel. For YouTube live streaming, there is a channel approval procedure. Google tells users that they should only livestream through Google Meet after getting permission from their channel.

According to its support page, only the host and co-hosts are permitted to start livestreaming the meeting when host management is enabled. Any meeting participant may begin livestreaming it if that option is turned on. If someone wants to watch the meeting live, Google also has a privacy option.

Availability: Google Meet Live stream

The gradual rollout of the live stream feature starts on July 25, 2022.

You can initiate a live stream in Meet by navigating to the Activities panel > Live Streaming and selecting your channel from the list.

According to Google,

live streaming is valuable in cases where users want to convey information to big audiences outside of their organisation, allowing them to pause and replay as needed, or see the presentation at a later time.
