For Indian users, Google Messages is getting a lovely upgrade that includes two new capabilities. Messages will now be grouped into categories for easier viewing, and there is a new option to have OTP messages automatically deleted after 24 hours.

Google Messages Auto Delete OTP: How it works?

Google has announced that its Messages app in India will be updated to allow it to automatically remove one-time passwords (OTPs) to prevent the single-use tokens from filling up your inbox. This is a simple function that allows you to delete OTP messages after 24 hours. This should help reduce clutter, and users can enable it by simply tapping proceed when the suggestion prompt appears in the OTP tab.

Google also claims that the app will be able to categorize messages, separating personal correspondence from notifications about bank transactions and special offers. Users in India rely on messages to receive a variety of information, such as OTPs, bank account updates, and other services. With so many messages, the Messages app can quickly become chaotic. To address this, Google is releasing an update to the Messages app that will automatically categorize messages. All, Personal, Transactions, OTP, and Offers are the tabs that will be available.

Both features will be available in English on Android phones running Android 8 and newer in India in the coming weeks.
