Google Pay users in India are getting a new update that will improve how the app uses user data including transaction details and so on. They’re adding a new toggle inside the app that lets users choose whether or not they want Google to collect and use their data to provide a personalized experience.
Users can see a new screen after the app has been updated, asking if they want to opt-in to a more customized experience on the app. If a user does not want to give Google more personal information, they can opt-out and continue to use the app as before.
If the user agrees, Google can use information such as the user’s location, transaction history, and payment methods to make more specific deals and recommendations. Users can also go to account.google.com to access and remove individual transactions and activity records that they don’t want to be used for personalization.

Both new and current users can see the toggle, and the software update should begin rolling out to Android and iOS users today.
