JioCinema announced that the qualifying Tata IPL game between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 23rd attracted 25 million, or 2.5 crore, concurrent viewers, breaking its previous viewership record.
With this, the firm has surpassed the 2.4 crore views it previously set during the CSK vs. RCB match on April 17. The peak concurrency during the CSK vs. RR match on April 12th, which reached 2.2 crore, was surpassed by this record, which was then broken.
JioCinema not only beat its own record for the third time this year, but it also tied the world record that had been established during the semi-final match between India and New Zealand at the ICC 2019 World Cup.
According to a recent announcement, JioCinema recorded over 1300 billion video views in the first five weeks of the TATA IPL 2023. Every viewer watched a match for an average of 60 minutes. The number of viewers for TATA IPL 2023 on connected TV has already surpassed that of HD TV by a factor of two.
26 prestigious brands have partnered with JioCinema to stream the TATA IPL 2023 online.
Tata IPL digital streaming rights are held by Viacom 18 from 2023 to 2027. Jio-Cinema has already stated that airing IPL games for free has increased IPL viewing on the digital platform and that this is one of the primary benefits of the digital platform.
