JioBook

JioBook, the company’s first laptop, has been making headlines for over a year. Reliance Jio’s first laptop was displayed at Jio’s booth at the Indian Mobile Congress 2022, where India’s 5th generation mobile network connectivity was also announced. While the 5G launch took centre stage, Reliance also showcased the JioBook laptop at the event, with images and key specifications confirmed.

JioBook will be priced around Rs. 15,000 in India

According to Reuters, the JioBook will be a 4G-enabled laptop with a Rs 15,000 price tag. Jio hopes to have the same kind of success in India as it did with the JioPhone, which has been one of the best-selling entry-level phones since it came out. Reliance Jio has worked with Qualcomm and Microsoft to develop the JioBook, which means it will support some apps and be powered by a Snapdragon SoC. In fact, the demo booth at the IMC 2022 confirmed that the JioBook will use a Snapdragon 665 processor. The laptop is said to run JioOS, which allows users to download and install apps from the JioStore.

The JioBook notebook will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Series processor and will include an embedded 4G SIM card. More importantly, the laptop will undercut all entry-level laptops and even low-cost Chromebook laptops starting around Rs 15,000 in price. For more information, the affordable laptop is said to have an 11.6-inch display, up to 13 hours of battery life, and an integrated web camera. More specs and details, like the amount of RAM and storage space, are likely to come out soon.

Availability

The laptop will also be available for purchase later this month for both businesses and consumers, according to the report. Schools and government agencies will be able to get the laptop later this month. It will be available to consumers within the next three months, which means it will be on the market by the end of 2022.

According to the report, the Reliance JioBook laptop will be manufactured locally by contract manufacturer Flex, and Jio hopes to sell hundreds of thousands of units by March 2023.
