
Jigarthanda’s 2014 action-comedy sequel was revealed earlier this month by filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj to commemorate the film’s eighth anniversary of release. The director has since tweeted Vinayagar Chathurthi wishes and announced that pre-production will start today for Jigarthanda 2.
Key characters in the first edition were played by Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Lakshmi Menon, Vijay Sethupathi, and Karunakaran, respectively. The film, which ended up taking home two National Film Awards as well, one for Bobby Simha for Best Supporting Actor and the other for Best Editing for Vivek Harshan. According to the latest rumors, the filmmaker is currently in talks with two well-known Tamil actors, Raghava Lawrence and SJ Surya, about casting them in Jigarthanda 2. Prior to that, SJ Surya had a presence in the director’s prior film titled “Iraivi,” which was released in 2016.
