Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are now available in India, with prices starting at Rs. 59,999: Powered by New Tensor G2 SoC, Camera improvements and more

Google

Google has finally made the Pixel 7 series official after announcing them at this year’s I/O event. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are the successors to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, bringing a number of improvements such as the new Tensor G2 chipset, design tweaks, and much more.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are now available

Display and design

The Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 7 have a design that is similar to last year’s Pixel 6 lineup. It’s the same Visor design as before, but with a dual-tone finish. But some changes had to be made, and they came in the form of a much more defined rear camera setup with a recyclable aluminium build. The edges are also rounded. The Pixel 7 Pro is available in three colours: Hazel, Snow, and Obsidian. Lemongrass, Snow, and Obsidian are the new colour options for the Pixel 7.

The Pixel 7 Pro features a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO OLED display with a variable refresh rate of 120Hz, a peak brightness of 1500 nits, and a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. It also supports the AOD and HDR features. The screen size is comparable to the Pixel 6 Pro. The Pixel 7 has a smaller 6.3-inch Full HD+ OLED display with 90Hz support. This is also smaller than the Pixel 6’s 6.4-inch display. It can get as bright as 1400 nits, supports AOD and HDR, and has a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus.

Cameras

The back of the 7 Pro features three cameras: a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 48MP telephoto lens with up to 30x digital zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus and a field of view of 125.8 degrees. The front camera is a 10.8MP selfie shooter with a 92.8-degree field of view.

The Pixel 7 has a unique camera setup with only two cameras. The camera has a 50MP primary sensor with OIS and a 12MP ultra-wide lens with a 114-degree field of view. The front camera is the same 10.8 MP with a wider 92.8-degree field of view.

Background blurring in videos with Cinematic Blur, Guided Frame, Photo Unblur, Google’s Magic Eraser, 10-bit HDR, Night Sight, Macro Focus (for the Pixel 7 Pro), Real Tone, and other features are also included. Autofocus and speech enhancements have been improved to make videos much more polished.

Tensor G2, Battery, and More

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are powered by the latest Tensor G2 chipset, which replaces the first-generation Tensor SOC. The chipset claims to be 60% faster and 20% more efficient at machine learning thanks to its 4Nm process technology. It is equipped with the Titan M2 security chip, which was also seen on its predecessor. The chipset is also meant to improve voice assistance, speech recognition for transcribed audio messages, Clear Calling, and other features.

The Pixel 7 Pro has up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, whereas the Pixel 7 has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Pixel 7 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery, while the standard model has a smaller 4,355mAh battery. Both support the Extreme Battery Saver, as well as a 30W USB-C charger, Qi wireless charging, and Battery Share.

The Pixel 7 Series ships with Android 13 and will receive updates for the next five years. Dual stereo speakers, an IP68 rating, facial recognition, an in-display fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth Version 5.2, 5G support, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C, and other features are also included. There are many security features, like a built-in VPN powered by Google One (which will be available soon), protection against phishing and malware, and controls for the camera and microphone, among others.
