An updated 11″ MatePad Pro tablet was unveiled by Huawei as part of its “Summer 2022 Smart Office Launch.” It is marketed as the thinnest and lightest 11″ tablet in the world, coming in at just 5.9mm and 449g.
HUAWEI MatePad Pro 11″ Features:
The Huawei MatePad Pro 11″ has a 2,560 x 1,600-pixel OLED display that runs at 120Hz (16:10, 274ppi). This 10-bit panel provides high frequency PWM dimming at 1,440Hz and precise color calibration (deltaE 1). It is the first tablet to receive the new Full Care Display 3.0 certification from TÜV Rheinland.
CEO Richard Yu made mention of a Snapdragon chipset in the event. The official website lists two models, although only one of them uses a Snapdragon 888 (5nm chip), while the other one makes use of a Snapdragon 870. (7nm). Other differences exist, but we’ll get to those later.
The tablet uses a vapor chamber and 3D graphene to keep the CPU cool. The storage options for the chipset are 128, 256, or 512GB. The chipset will be combined with 8 or 12GB of RAM. In addition to Wi-Fi 6 (ax) and Bluetooth 5.2 with AAC and LDAC for audio, 4G connectivity is a possibility. Speeds of USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 are available.
The tablet comes pre-installed with HarmonyOS 3.0, which offers several nice upgrades. One is referred to as Card Folder, and it enables you to stack collections of widgets on top of one another to keep the homescreen uncluttered (switching between the groups takes just a couple of taps). Huawei also improved the usability of the multitasking interface. Two apps can run simultaneously, as well as two floating app bubbles.
There is enough power in the tablet’s 8,300mAh battery for 11.5 hours of (local) video playback. Although it comes with a 40W charger, the 888-powered model supports Huawei’s 66W SuperCharge. The 870 one has a 40W charging maximum and a 22.5W adaptor included.
A 13MP main module with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus, as well as an 8MP ultra-wide module with an f/2.2 aperture and fixed focus, make up the dual camera on the back. There is a 16MP front-facing camera.
It’s time to discuss some accoutrements. With a new color (white), improved grip, and a smoother writing experience, the Huawei M-Pencil has been updated.
A new magnetic smart keyboard with 1.5mm key travel is also available. The case’s kickstand can be turned from 120° to 165°, which is useful when using the stylus to draw objects. By the way, the case contains a holder for the M-Pen. The keyboard case features an integrated antenna, which, according to Huawei, transforms it into a “Wi-Fi amplifier” and improves reception.
