Bing has been updated by Microsoft using AI technology like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. This signals a huge shift in the search engine industry and puts Google, which recently debuted its own AI service named “Bard,” in direct competition.
The company claims that, although there are 10 billion searches made every day, they estimate that half of them go unanswered because people use search for purposes for which it was not intended and because it frequently struggles to deliver appropriate answers to challenging inquiries. Microsoft previously invested several billion dollars in OpenAI as part of a multi-year agreement.
Bing search engine and Edge browser with AI-powered
Bing.com now offers a preview of Microsoft’s Edge browser and AI-powered Bing search engine. With a new chat function and the capacity to provide material, the improvements seek to enhance search results and offer more thorough responses. These tools are referred to by Microsoft as an “AI copilot for the web.”

Better search: Simple inquiries like sports scores, stock prices, and weather are answered more precisely by the new Bing. It also features a new feature that, if necessary, displays more thorough responses.
Complete answers: To locate the answer to your query, the new Bing examines data from several websites. Bing will provide precise directions without requiring you to look through numerous results, for instance, if you are baking a cake and need to know how to substitute an ingredient for the eggs.
A new chat experience: The new Bing offers a new conversation option for searching that is difficult, like organising a trip or discovering the greatest TV to purchase. By requesting more details and offering ideas, the chat assists you in focusing your search and locating the precise solution you require.

A creative spark: The new Bing can provide material to be of assistance. For instance, you could use it to create a quiz, plan a trip to Hawaii, write an email, or get ready for a job interview. Bing also includes a source disclosure so you can look into the sources it used.
New Microsoft Edge experience: With the latest upgrade, the Edge browser now boasts additional AI functions and a fresh look. It now has the Chat and Compose features. You can ask for a summary of a lengthy financial report using the Edge Sidebar, and then use the conversation to compare it to another company. Edge may also be instructed to assist you in writing a post, much like LinkedIn. Edge can understand the web page you’re on and change to fit it.
The new Bing was created by Microsoft by combining four technological advancements
- A new, enhanced OpenAI language model that is enhanced for search and more potent than ChatGPT.
- The Prometheus model is a proprietary method for using the OpenAI paradigm to achieve better outcomes with increased safety.
- The basic Bing search algorithm was enhanced using AI, greatly increasing relevancy.
- a new user interface that combines the search, browser, and chat functions.
- These enhancements are made feasible by Microsoft’s investment in Azure as an artificial intelligence supercomputer and OpenAI’s use of this infrastructure to develop sophisticated models for Bing.
