According to 9to5Mac, Netflix is working on a new option that will direct iOS users to its website where they can complete a new Netflix subscription. Initially disclosed by a small number of individuals, this information was later corroborated by 9to5Mac. All users across the globe are anticipated to receive this feature.

For those unfamiliar, Netflix previously allowed “reader applications” to provide external links for users to quickly log in and make a monthly payment from outside of the App Store. Reader apps are those that deliver digital content as their primary function, such as magazines, newspapers, books, radio, music, or videos. Users of the iPhone and iPad around the world can immediately download the new update.
A notification stating that “you’re about to leave the app and travel to an external website” would appear when you select the “subscribe” option, according to the source. The App Store explains that since the next transaction will be completed on the Netflix platform, Apple is not liable for it. The precise text of the message is as follows:
Once you click Continue, you will be sent to the Netflix website where you can fill in the necessary fields (such as your name and credit card information) and sign up for a plan. By doing this, Apple will not receive the 30% commission that Netflix would otherwise have to pay. After a year, the commission for recurring subscriptions drops to 15%.
According to update from Netflix,
Any accounts or purchases made outside of this app will be managed by the developer “Netflix.” Your App Store account, stored payment methods, and related features, such as subscription management and refund requests, will not be available. Apple is not responsible for the privacy or security of transactions made with this developer.
