Several weeks after Apple unveiled two 35W power adapters with two USB-C ports at the WWDC 2022 conference, both of these products are finally available for purchase. These products’ listings on the Apple Store went live just a few hours ago, and they should be in stores by the following week at the latest. There are currently no other power adapters on the market that have two USB-C ports, making these unique. Thus, they are able to simultaneously charge two compatible devices.

Both of the adapters have the same cost and provide the same amount of power during the charging process. The sizes, on the other hand, are not identical; one of them has a more compact form factor, while the other comes in a more standard size. Apple suggests purchasing the more compact charger if you are a resident of the United States and intend to make all of your charging-device use occur within the United States. Apple recommends that if you are going to be traveling outside of the country, you should purchase the larger charger because it has the capability of being paired with Apple’s World Travel Adapter Kit. It is possible to remove the wall charger component of the device and switch it out with one of the other region-specific wall charger components that are included in the World Travel Adapter Kit.

Although Apple suggests using these adapters with the MacBook Air, they are also compatible with other Apple products such as iPhones, iPads, various models of Apple Watch, and even AirPods. Apple recommends using these adapters with the MacBook Air. It is important to note that Apple HomePods are not included in the list of compatible accessories. To use the adapter, you will need to separately acquire charging cables that are compatible with your device, which is typical for products of this nature that are manufactured by Apple.

New Apple USB Charger is included in the new M2 MacBook Air models

It is interesting to note that the release of these chargers that are compatible with USB-C occurs around the same time that organizations such as the European Union and members of the United States Senate have been lobbying for uniform charging standards for consumer electronic devices. While the United States has not yet passed any legislation on the subject, the European Union has mandated that all mobile electronic devices must be equipped with USB-C by the year 2024.

Apple has confirmed that the more portable version of the twin USB-C adapters will be included as part of the retail packaging that comes with the newly released M2-powered MacBook Air. In the same vein, if you were thinking about purchasing one of the new MacBooks, you won’t require a separate purchase of these adapters because they come included with the device. It is important to note that in the event that users decide to charge two devices at the same time, the charger will not be able to deliver the full 35W to either of the devices.

Even though Apple’s brand-new chargers are the company’s first to feature a pair of USB-C ports, there are other products on the market from third-party manufacturers that, in theory, are capable of performing the job just as well. The Anker Nano Pro adapter is a close competitor to these Apple adapters because it also has twin USB-C ports and is able to provide up to 40W of power. Anker, on the other hand, is similar to Apple in that it sells compatible USB cables independently, albeit at significantly more affordable prices.

Both of these USB-C chargers are currently only available for purchase in a handful of countries, including the United States of America, Canada, China, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand.
