OnePlus has announced that the OnePlus 11 5G is the first smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform that is Snapdragon Spaces XR Development Platform-ready, opening the door for developers to bring their XR ideas to life and explore the full potential of wearable AR.
Snapdragon Spaces Ready
With market-leading technology, a cross-device SDK, and an open ecosystem, the Snapdragon Spaces platform enables developers to realise the full potential of wearable AR. In order to empower developers to create cutting-edge experiences that will guide the development of the following generation of immersive technology, it intends to create an open XR ecosystem.
The first smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Spaces support is the OnePlus 11 5G. It is the starting point for developers who want to explore the full potential of wearable AR and bring their XR ideas to life. With the OnePlus 11, developers can now create immersive experiences for AR glasses that adapt to any situation and change how we interact with the environments around us.
The Snapdragon Spaces SDK must be integrated into the Android Hardware Abstraction Layer of the OnePlus 11 5G’s OxygenOS in order for it to be confirmed by Snapdragon Spaces.
According to OnePlus, engineers tested the device’s reliability and operation day and night.
Unlocks the New World on Qualcomm Wireless AR Smart Viewer
According to the company, as the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Snapdragon Spaces compatible smartphone, the OnePlus 11 improves augmented reality game performance as a remote controller when linked with the Qualcomm Wireless AR Wireless Smart Viewer powered by the Snapdragon XR2 platform.
OnePlus has unveiled the first hardware ray-tracing product compatible with the mobile XR ecosystem under the motto “Never Settle.” A Tower of Fantasy video game avatar was used by OnePlus to demonstrate an AR concert in collaboration with the Qualcomm XR team.
The demonstration makes use of the hand tracking, plane identification, and local anchoring features of Snapdragon Spaces. On a complicated animated model, users can witness enhanced real-time ray tracing effects, including specular reflection and shadow.
From February 27 to March 2 at MWC 2023, OnePlus will display the OnePlus 11 5G coupled with the Snapdragon XR2 AR Wireless Smart Viewer at #3M10 in Hall 3.
