Back in June, Reliance Jio introduced the JioPhone Next, the company’s ultra-affordable Android smartphone developed in collaboration with Google. It was planned to be available in the market on Ganesh Chaturthi, September 10th, however, due to chip shortages, the debut was pushed back until Diwali. The business stated today that the smartphone will run Pragati OS, which is powered on Android.

Details about Pragati OS and Jio Phone Next:

Jio stated that the Pragati OS was designed exclusively for India and was created by the brightest brains at Jio and Google with the goal of bringing Pragati (progress) to all while providing a really seamless experience at an affordable price.

The company has revealed that the JioPhone Next will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoC, which it claims will provide enhanced connectivity and location technologies, as well as improvements in device performance, audio, and battery life.

Jio has also verified that the JioPhone Next is manufactured in India in factories in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, and Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with Neolync Solutions Private Limited. Neolync is one of the companies that has received approval from the Department of Telecom (DoT) for a production-linked incentive (PLI) plan that will see an investment of Rs. 3,345 crore over the next four and a half years. Reliance has made a Rs. 20 crore investment in the company.

According to previous rumors, the smartphone will have a 5.5-inch HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) resolution screen, a 1.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm 215 Mobile Platform with Dual-SIM Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and Bluetooth 4.2 support, a 13MP OmniVision OV13B10 rear camera sensor, and an 8MP front camera with GalaxyCore GC8034W sensor.

Exclusive Features: Voice Assistant, Read Aloud, Translate

  • Jio Phone Next includes capability for a voice assistant (presumably Google Assistant) to do things like as app opening and checking for updates/information from the internet.
  • The new Jio Phone Next includes a ‘Listen’ feature. Users can enable the feature, which causes the phone to read out the text on the screen. The advantage of implementing this function is that consumers can listen to content in their native language.
  • The tool, as the name implies, allows users to translate text on their Jio Phone Next. This enables people to read any information in their preferred language.
  • On the back of the Jio Phone Next is a single 13MP camera. To improve the camera experience, the business has provided new settings like as Portrait mode, Night mode, and so on. The camera software also has custom Indian augmented reality filters that may be used to enhance photos by linking them with emotions and events.

When the JioPhone Next gets official in the first week of November, we should know more about it, including the price.
