realme UI update with Jio 5G support

Several users took to Twitter to report that they have received a new realme UI update, which includes support for Jio’s 5G network in the changelog. It’s a minor update that brings the Android security patch for September 2022, as well as other system and stability improvements, to realme phones. The update appears to be rolling out to all realme 5G smartphones that are compatible. If you haven’t received it yet, go to the phone’s settings menu and look for the software update section.

Here’s a quick rundown of the latest realme UI update changelog:

Launch of 5G in India

For those who are unaware, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched India’s 5G network at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) in 2022. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, two of the biggest telecom companies, have said that they will launch 5G services in the next few days. Vi, on the other hand, has not said when its 5G services will be available.

Initially, 5G services will be available only in major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. This week, it was also announced that the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi will be ready for 5G as of today. This means that passengers will be able to get super-fast internet access inside the airport.

5G Availability

Users will, however, be able to use Jio 5G on their devices. By the end of this year, it is expected that 3/4 of the population will have access to 5G services. JIO has announced that it will begin rolling out 5G services in India later this month.
