Samsung Electronics has announced that new Odyssey, ViewFinity, and Smart Monitor offerings will be introduced at CES 2023, which takes place later this week.
Samsung Odyssey Neo G9: The World’s First Dual UHD Gaming Monitor
The first screen to have 7,682,160 resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio is the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Gaming Monitor (model number: G95NC).
Its 1000R-curved 57-inch screen combines quantum micro LED technology with VESA Display HDR 1000 to deliver superior imaging from shadows to bright scenes. Furthermore, the matte display reduces screen reflection, eliminating distractions during intense gaming.
It also supports DisplayPort 2.1, which is twice as fast as DisplayPort 1.4, and the new DP2.1 allows lossless DSC to transport data without distortion. Also, the Odyssey Neo G9 has a refresh rate of 240 Hz to make sure gameplay is smooth.
Samsung Odyssey OLED G9
The Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC) has a dual-quad-HD 49-inch 1800R curved 32:9 display. It features quantum dot OLED illumination that is pixel-by-pixel controlled, allowing for near-infinite colour contrast.
Instead of relying on a backlight, the OLED panel illuminates each pixel individually, resulting in a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and genuine RGB and true black without the use of colour filters. The Odyssey OLED G9 has a 0.1-ms reaction time and a refresh rate of 240Hz.
To stream content without a PC, the Odyssey OLED G9 uses apps from partners such as Prime Video, Netflix, and YouTube via the Smart Hub. Samsung Gaming Hub is an all-in-one game streaming platform that allows Xbox and NVIDIA GeForce Now games to be played in the cloud without the need for a console or a download.
ViewFinity S9
The ViewFinity S9 is Samsung’s most recent monitor (S90PC). It has a 5K, 27-inch screen and is aimed at designers and photographers. Its 5,120 x 2,880 resolution and 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut provide crisp, true-to-form details, while its average Delta E-2 colour accuracy ensures clear, accurate colour representation even in complex visual contexts.
The monitor’s built-in colour calibration engine ensures accurate screen colour and brightness, and users can adjust white balance, gamma, and RGB colour balancing using their smartphones. Matte displays reduce glare and reflection to reduce distractions.
The ViewFinity S9 Series features a 4K SlimFit camera and native video conferencing via apps such as Google Meet. Users can easily send high-resolution video clips to their PC by connecting USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 cameras and other devices to the monitor.
Smart Monitor M8
The Smart Monitor M8 (Model Number: M80C) has a slim design and now comes in a 27-inch size with 4K resolution. This monitor is available in four different colours to match any decor: bright blue, green, pink, or white.
The ideal angle is provided by the height-adjustable, tilting stand. For long publications, the 90-degree screen pivot reduces scrolling. It is VESA-mountable, which saves space and clutter. The Smart Monitor M8 can connect, control, and manage hundreds of compatible devices, including lights, cameras, doorbells, locks, and thermostats, via its built-in SmartThings Hub.
Beginning this year, Samsung will support the Matter and Home Connectivity Alliance standards. This will make it easier to choose and use devices.
Many of the Smart Monitor’s add-on apps, such as SmartThings and the Smart Hub, now support mouse control. Furthermore, the Smart Monitor M8’s integrated 2K SlimFit camera is compatible with Google Meet. To prevent attacks, Samsung Knox Vault encrypts personal data and isolates files and information from the device’s primary operating system.
My Content gives customers quick access to information. When the monitor detects a registered smartphone via low-power Bluetooth, it displays the user’s images, calendar, and other information. When the phone is out of range, the monitor goes into standby mode.
