Snapchat launched ChatGPT elements into their “My AI” tool, which provides users with AI-generated answers to their questions. In addition, Ray Tracing Technology was used to improve the realism of their augmented reality shopping feature.

Snapchat My AI: Features

My AI, a new chatbot powered by the most recent version of OpenAI’s GPT technology, is only available to subscribers. Notably, Snapchat is the first social media platform to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) components directly into its user interface (UI), giving them a distinct advantage over competitors and allowing them to capitalise on the AI buzz.

Snapchat has developed a chatbot product, similar to those released by Microsoft and Google, in collaboration with Google’s AI-driven conversational tool known as “Bard.”

My AI provides a variety of useful features for users, such as suggesting birthday gift ideas for your best friend, organising a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggesting dinner options, and even writing a haiku about cheese for your cheddar-loving friend. Users can personalise the experience by naming the AI and selecting a wallpaper for their chat.

It’s important to note, however, that My AI, like all AI-powered chatbots, can suffer from “hallucinations” and be easily misled. As a precaution, the company advises users not to share sensitive information with My AI or seek advice from it because all conversations are recorded and may be reviewed.

Snapchat encourages users to provide feedback by pressing and holding any AI-generated message to improve the AI’s accuracy. The company recognises that errors may occur and is committed to continuously improving the AI’s performance.

Availability

Snapchat+ ($3.99/month) subscribers will be able to access an experimental AI feature called ‘My AI’ beginning this week.

In response to the announcement, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel told The Verge that

The big idea is that in addition to talking to our friends and family every day, we’re going to talk to AI every day. And this is something we’re well positioned to do as a messaging service.
