After WhatsApp initially asked users to endorse their new policy or delete their accounts, Telegrams’s popularity increased dramatically.
Telegram has been the world’s most widely downloaded non-gaming app for January 2021. It has more than 63 million installations, 3.8 times its downloads in the same month a year earlier, according to the new data published by the app analytics company Sensor Tower. Among countries all over the world, India has registered the largest number of Telegram installations, at 24 per cent. This is followed by 24 per cent of Indonesia.
This is all because of the WhatsApp messaging app’s privacy row. Telegram achieved the leading spot in total Google Play Store downloads (non-game) from the ninth place in December 2020. The app also reached the Top ten (non-game) most downloaded apps list in the App Store, which took fourth place directly.
