The Amazon Prime Video update brings a fresh makeover

Amazon is releasing a major update to the Prime Video app across multiple platforms. The update gives Google TV, Android TV, Fire TV, Roku, and Apple TV devices a much-needed visual makeover. The Prime Video app for consoles now has the updated user interface as well.

The new Prime Video UI is similar to Netflix and Disney+, with a large preview window at the top, followed by a new top 10 list and rows of recommended movies and TV shows organised by category. A navigation bar along the left edge of the interface provides quick access to the Search, Home, Store, Live TV, Free, and My Stuff sections.

The new Amazon Prime Video interface will be available to users of the aforementioned platforms starting this week. It will also be available on the Prime Video app for Android. The web interface and iOS app, on the other hand, will be updated “in the coming months.” At this time, it is unclear whether the new interface will be rolled out to the Prime Video app for macOS.

According to Helena Cerna, Global Director of Product Management for Prime Video,

We certainly wanted customers to understand the breadth of content available to them, with a clear ingress and being able to know which titles cost extra.
