TikTok is now the most popular social media platform for sharing short 60-second videos, but artists will have even more time starting in Q2 2021. Drew Kirchhoff, TikTok’s Product Manager, announced in an official message that the site will be adding the ability to produce lengthier films of up to three minutes.
Create up to 3 minutes videos on TikTok:
Creators have spoken with the company, saying that they require a little more time to bring their material to life without having to split it into segments like “like and follow for part 2.” The feature has already been tested with a small group of users, but it is now anticipated to be made available to all users.
Instead of pressuring producers to invest in several series, the firm is introducing longer films, which means end-users will spend up to three times longer on the app watching videos, which is TikTok’s ultimate goal.
"Now we're introducing the option for our global community to create longer videos – paving the way for even richer storytelling and entertainment on TikTok. Creative expression brings people together. It's how we connect with our communities. It's how we entertain, educate, inform, and inspire each other. This is also why we've focused on providing our community with a range of tools to help unleash their creativity – longer videos are now one more tool people can use to captivate the community with their creative expression." - Drew Kirchhoff, Product Manager, TikTok
