Twitter’s new subscription service, called “Twitter Blue,” was officially launched in June of last year. It gives users access to special features like the ability to quickly delete a tweet they just sent and the ability to change the app’s theme. Twitter is raising the price of its Blue plan for the first time after a year.

Matt Navarra, a social media consultant, pointed out that Twitter Blue subscribers got an email on Thursday telling them that the monthly price will be going up soon. When Twitter Blue first came out, it cost $2.99 per month. Now, it costs $4.99 per month, which is a 66 percent increase.
In the latest version of the official Twitter app for iOS, the price for a Twitter Blue subscription is already $4.99 per month. This means that new subscribers are already paying the new price.
Twitter says that “early adopters” of Twitter Blue, or people who already have a subscription, will continue to pay $2.99 per month until October 2022. After that, the price of a subscription will change on its own to $4.99. These customers will be told again 30 days before the price hike goes into effect.
There aren’t many details about why Twitter is raising the price of the Blue subscription so soon after it started. The company says that raising the price of the Twitter Blue subscription will help the platform “keep adding some of the new features” that users have been asking for.
Twitter is not in the best shape.
Since Elon Musk said he would buy Twitter for $44 billion, the company has been having a lot of problems on the inside. Musk later changed his mind, which cost Twitter money and a number of employees their jobs. The company is now suing Musk for backing out of the deal and trying to force him to complete the promised acquisition.
Even though the company is in a fight with Musk, it has also been doing what it can to improve its platform. In the past few months, Twitter has added new features like the ability to record and replay Spaces, a “Circles” feature that is similar to Close Friends, and CoTweets.
