Vivo’s mid-range segment is one of the best-looking phones at an affordable price, and the Vivo Y51, which was released in December 2020, is the latest addition to this. So, in this video, I’ll give you an in-depth analysis of this unit, and we’ll see what the pros and cons are.
UNBOXING
Design
I’ve recently admired Vivo’s concept aesthetic. The Vivo y51 is surrounded by a sleek metallic shell. The body is made of aluminum with a matt finish on the back, which is kind of glastic but attracts a lot of fingerprint smudges; however, Vivo offers a case. The dimensions of the Vivo y51 are as follows. Titanium Sapphire and Crystal Symphony are the two distinctive colors available. With a weight of 188g, it’s obvious that Vivo puts a higher emphasis on construction. The Vivo y51 is attractive to those who enjoy good architecture. It’s lightweight and has rounded edges, making it easier to transport. It has thin borders that complement the overall design.
Display
The display on the front has a dewdrop notch, which is one of the most common notch types. The Vivo Y51 has a 6.58-inch Halo FullViewTM Display, as Vivo calls it. The resolution of this FHD+ is 2408×1080 pixels. The display, according to Vivo, has the P3 color gamut, which offers a broad and immersive viewing experience for both videos and games. To stop eye strain, the show often filters out harmful blue light. The show in my test was beautiful, with vivid, vibrant colors. The viewing angles are also good. We should applaud Vivo for not sacrificing on the show at this price point.
Hardware & Interface
The Vivo y51 is fitted with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. Vivo filled the void left by the 665 processor by increasing the RAM size. The system performs admirably. Regular games are not affected, but heavy games can experience lag. There is no lag in day-to-day use, and it is crisp and smooth.
The optimization has been well-executed. We also get the fun touch os 11 on top of Android 11. Customizing vivo phones, which have a lot of customization features, is always fun and interesting. So far, the user interface has been good and smooth. It has become common for most brands to ship devices with bloatware. Battery
The Vivo Y51 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, which comes with an 18W quick charger in the package. Vivo claims that it can charge the phone to 70% capacity in just 67 minutes. According to my test, this is true. Since I did thorough testing, I was able to get almost a full day’s charge, however you’ll get more than a day’s charge for daily usage. Use a Type C port In order to charge other devices, the phone supports reverse wired charging.
Camera
The Vivo Y51 features a triple AI camera module that includes a 48MP wide sensor with an f/1.79 aperture, an 8MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP macro sensor with an f/2.4 aperture.

Biometrics
One of the most recent trends in midrange devices is the side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and the Vivo y51 follows suit. The fingerprint sensor is quick to detect and responds. However, I am not a big fan of this technology because it is inconvenient for left-handed people. Face recognition, on the other hand, is a viable option for them. That works well and quickly as well, but in low-light situations, the fingerprint may be required.
Haptics, Audio and Call quality
The call quality was good, and the other party could hear me clearly even when I was speaking in a windy environment. In the midrange phone category, the haptics were excellent. In terms of audio quality, vivo advertised the Vivo y51 as having audio booster technology. According to vivo, they have increased the equivalent volume of the sound chamber by injecting bass dust, resulting in sounds of up to 73dB 13. They’ve also created the unique Super Audio sound effects to give the audiovisual experience an extra boost. According to my tests, the audio quality was excellent, and I compared it to the Note 10 Plus, which I believe has superior audio among the devices I own. As a result, the analogy worked well. Although listening to the audio through my camera mic does not do the audio justice, here are some samples for you to enjoy.
Conclusion
The Vivo Y51 appears to check many boxes. Excellent camera with beautiful design and flat ips display. With a headphone jack on board and more, the battery life is excellent. For a mid-range device, the price is reasonable. On the negative side, I believe the processor could have been better, but with 8GB of RAM, you will have no problems.
