WhatsApp adds quick reactions to status updates, a desktop gallery view and more

A few weeks ago, WhatsApp added reactions to images, which was a feature that users had been waiting for and loved. Users can now also use any emoji as a reaction, which gives them a lot more control over how the feature works for them. Now, a reliable WhatsApp feature tipper, WABetaInfo, says that reactions are also showing up on WhatsApp status updates, just like they do on Instagram and Facebook Messenger.

The feature was seen on Android beta version 2.22.16.10 during internal testing, which means that beta testers won’t be able to use it yet.

Soon, users of the messaging app will be able to respond to status updates with eight emojis and no comments. Instagram and Facebook Messenger also had the same kind of feature.

Based on the screenshots in the report, the first eight emoji reactions to status updates could be the heart eyes emoji, the LOL emoji, the wow emoji, the teardrop emoji, the high five emoji, the applause emoji, the party confetti emoji, and the 100 emoji.

It goes without saying that the feature isn’t finished and will be tested more, which could change how it works or even how it looks. Still, some people are waiting for this feature to be made available to stable users.

WhatsApp Windows Beta app has some new features.

Also, WhatsApp has been working on a new way to look at photos in the WhatsApp for Windows app. Soon, beta users of WhatsApp beta for Windows version 2.2227.2.0 from the Microsoft Store were able to use the feature.

The feature now has a new gallery view for the pictures, like the one on the WhatsApp Desktop version for Electron. The new update also syncs stickers and emojis that have been used recently on both the phone app and the desktop app.
