WhatsApp beta is now rolling out Search for messages by date, Android tablet support, and companion mode for iOS

After the launch of the “Message Yourself” feature, which lets you have 1:1 chats with yourself and send notes, reminders, and updates whenever necessary, WhatsApp is now releasing new features to Android and iOS beta testers.

Search for messages by date

This feature will make it simple for users to navigate to a specific date within a chat. The screenshot shows that you can use the search option within a conversation; if a calendar icon appears, it indicates that the capability is enabled for your WhatsApp account.

Users can navigate to a specific date to see which messages have been exchanged within a specific conversation, and they can also navigate to the first message. It should be noted that if the calendar icon does not appear, it will be made available to more users at a later date.

WhatsApp for tablet – banner

The WhatsApp beta for Android is receiving an update on the Play Store, and some beta testers are seeing the “WhatsApp for Tablet” banner for the tablet-compatible version.

The new banner appears as soon as you open WhatsApp after the update, informing you that a tablet-compatible version is available for beta testers on the Play Store. More information is available by clicking the “learn more” link in the banner, which leads to the presentation sheet.

WhatsApp Android companion device

A companion feature has been added to WhatsApp beta for iOS, version WhatsApp previously announced the companion mode for Android beta, which allows users to access their existing WhatsApp account on a second Android device.

After installing the most recent beta update of WhatsApp for Android, it was possible to link an iOS account to an Android device, but the Android device was not recognised in the iOS linked devices section.

Finally, in the most recent beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, WhatsApp expanded the list of possible associated devices, allowing Android devices to be recognised.

In terms of WhatsApp for tablets, the banner and Android companion device on iOS, as well as search for messages by date, are now available to beta users.

Message editing, voice status updates, WhatsApp Chat, and other new features are also said to be in the works at WhatsApp.
