To give users more control over their privacy, WhatsApp has revealed the launch of a new feature known as “Chat Lock.” A PIN or fingerprint can be used with Chat Lock to secure users’ most private communications. This will make it so that these chats can only be accessed by the user.
The function has been under development for a month, and some Android users who are using the WhatsApp beta have already begun to receive it.
How to Setup and Use Chat Lock in WhatsApp ?
- Users just need to select “Lock Chat” from the chat options for the conversation they want to keep private in order to use Chat Lock.
- Then they will be given the option of using their fingerprint or creating a PIN.
- When Chat Lock is enabled, users must enter their PIN or scan their fingerprint in order to access the chat after pushing down on the inbox.
According to WhatsApp, more options for Chat Lock will be added, including locking companion devices and allowing users to choose a separate custom password for chats from the one used to unlock their phones.
All WhatsApp users may access Chat Lock on Android and iOS, and it will likely roll out to everyone over the next few days.
WhatsApp remarked on the new feature as follows:
Our passion is to find new ways to help keep your messages private and secure. We think this feature will be great for people who have reason to share their phones from time to time with a family member or those moments where someone else is holding your phone at the exact moment an extra special chat arrives.
