WhatsApp already has some media editing tools for mobile and desktop users, such as the ability to add stickers, crop photos, and more. Meta, which owns the messaging platform, plans to add an image blur feature, which is currently in beta, to make it more useful.
WhatsApp Image Blur Tool is being tested
According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing the image blur tool as part of the beta version of its desktop client. Users can use the Blur tool to blur out an image or a portion of an image before sending it to someone. A screenshot of the feature in use has been shared. When sending an image or video, the option to blur the media or select the portion to blur will be available. This option will be available alongside existing options such as crop, stickers, markup, and more.

By simply concealing sensitive information, this new feature will allow users to securely send an image or video. Furthermore, users will not be required to use third-party editing apps prior to performing the deed. It is also revealed that WhatsApp for Desktop beta users can try out the new Blur tool by simply sending a photo. But it is only available to a small number of beta users right now. If you haven’t gotten it yet, just wait for an update.
Availability
There is also no word on its general availability. It was previously tested for Android users, so there is a chance it will soon reach stable Android, iOS, and desktop users.
