After a month of beta testing, WhatsApp has officially announced the rollout of the “message yourself” feature. According to the company, the 1:1 chat feature with yourself allows you to send notes, reminders, and updates as needed.
According to WhatsApp, this will be useful for users to keep track of their to-do lists, send themselves notes, reminders, shopping lists, and so on.
During the initial rollout last month, some beta testers noticed that WhatsApp highlights the message using your phone number in a separate caption. Furthermore, some beta testers may have noticed improved message synchronisation within the chat with their own phone numbers for some time.
Also, there is support for multiple devices, so if you send a message to the chat with your phone number, it will always be synced with your other devices.
How do you use the WhatsApp “Message Yourself” feature?
- Launch WhatsApp.
- Make a new chat room.
- Your contact will appear at the top of the list.
- Start messaging by clicking on your phone number!
Availability
The “Message Yourself” feature on WhatsApp will be available on Android and iPhone in the coming weeks, and it will be rolled out to all users.
WhatsApp is said to be working on new features such as message editing, voice status updates, WhatsApp Chat, and more.
