MSI Raider GE77 and GE67: Gaming laptops with New Intel Alder Lake-HX
MSI’s Raider GE77 and GE67 laptops feature Intel Core i7-12800HX Alder Lake processors. Other specs include a 240 Hz QHD OLED screen, 32 GB of 4,800 MT/s DDR5 memory, and a 99 Wh battery. Raider GE67 and GE77 start at $2,500 and $2,600.

MSI has upgraded the performance of its flagship gaming laptops by equipping them with gleaming new Intel Alder Lake-HX processors. The MSI Raider GE77 and GE67 are available in fewer configurations than their predecessors, the Raider GE76 and GE66, which were introduced at CES 2022. These are incremental upgrades over those previous models. Both of these laptops come equipped with quite a lot of high-end hardware, and their prices reflect this fact.

Both the MSI Raider GE77 and the MSI Raider GE67 utilize a processor based on the Intel Core i7-12800HX. The graphics processing units (GPU) available to choose from are the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. The central processing unit (CPU) and the graphics processing unit (GPU) draw a combined total of 250 Watts of power, of which the CPU will receive up to 75 Watts and the GPU will receive 175 Watts. Due to the fact that the Alder Lake-HX processors were designed to prioritize performance over power efficiency, this could result in some bottlenecks.

Both the MSI Raider GE77 and GE67 come equipped with up to 32 gigabytes of 4,800 MT/s DDR5 RAM and a 1 terabyte PCI-e Gen4 NVMe solid state drive for memory and storage respectively. Neither of the RAM slots is soldered, so users can add additional storage all the way up to 64 GB. Both laptops come equipped with a 1080p webcam, an RJ-45 Ethernet jack, an HDMI port, a Thunderbolt 4.0 port, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a Thunderbolt 4.0 port, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port.

The screen size and resolution of the MSI Raider GE77 and GE67 are the primary areas of differentiation between the two models. The Raider GE77 has a 17.3-inch QHD IPS LCD panel that has a refresh rate of 240 Hz, while the Raider GE67 has a 15-6-inch QHD OLED panel. Both of these monitors have a 240-hertz refresh rate. They both have a response time of three milliseconds and cover one hundred percent of the DCI-P3 color spectrum.

Other features included on the MSI Raider GE77 and GE67 are Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, a four-cell battery with 99 Wh capacity, two 2 Watt speakers tuned by Dynaudio, and a Steelseries keyboard with per-key RGB control. Both of these models are designed for gaming. With the included Console Mode, MSI also enables users to play two games at the same time, with one game displayed on the screen of the user’s laptop and the other game displayed on their television.
