Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has unveiled the Toyota Rumion, marking its entry into the Indian market with a competitive starting price of Rs 10.29 lakh. The new multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) offering seeks to make its mark in the segment while effectively leveraging its association with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
A Synergy of Global Partnerships
As a part of the profound collaboration between Toyota and Suzuki, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) has graciously shared three of its acclaimed models – Baleno, Vitara Brezza, and Ertiga – with TKM. In return, TKM has contributed the Innova Hycross, an offering that caters to the interests of the nation’s premier automaker. This strategic partnership has also led to the co-development of a noteworthy vehicle, the Grand Vitara/Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
Engineered Performance and Efficiency

Underneath the hood, the Toyota Rumion inherits the reliable 1.5-liter K-Series petrol engine from its counterpart, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. This powertrain churns out an impressive 103 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 137 Nm in the petrol grade. Meanwhile, in the CNG grade, it delivers 88 PS of maximum power and 121 Nm of peak torque. Transmissions are aplenty, offering enthusiasts the choice between a 5-speed MT and a 6-speed AT for the petrol grade, while the CNG grade is fitted exclusively with a 5-speed MT.
