In an effort to enhance group management and foster a safe online environment, WhatsApp is rolling out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.23.16.18. This update introduces the highly anticipated “admin review” feature for group chats, and it’s now available to select beta testers.
WhatsApp Beta: Admin Review Feature
The “admin review” feature grants group administrators an additional tool to manage their groups effectively, even when they are unavailable. Once enabled within the group settings screen, all members in the chat gain the ability to report messages shared in the conversation directly to the group admins. When a message is reported, the group admin can take appropriate action based on the content, such as deleting the message for everyone or removing the sender from the group.
WhatsApp’s decision to implement the “admin review” feature aims to create a safe and respectful environment within group conversations. By allowing group admins to review messages sent by other members, it enables them to keep a watchful eye on the group’s activities, promoting responsible and positive interactions.
Messages that need review will be listed in a new section within the group info screen, making it easy for admins to identify them. Any group member can report a message by simply opening the message options and selecting the “send for review” option.
Rollout Status:
The “admin review” feature for group chats is currently available to some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update from the Google Play Store. However, WhatsApp plans to roll out this feature to an even larger audience over the coming days.
